The Reason We Celebrate: The Joy Of Resurrection!

Before the birth of Jesus, there was a world of people separated from God in need of a Savior. Out of an abundance of love, Jesus was sent to the earth to be the example of how we should live. He came to restore the relationship with God by being his very presence here on earth.

Part of Jesus’ mission on earth included his crucifixion. There could be no resurrection if there was no death first. Such a sacrifice was meant to bear the burden of all the sin, shame, evil, and shortcomings of the natural world, and bury them. Jesus, knowing that on our own we would fall, took the debt we would owe for our transgressions and paid at the cross. His blood, our currency.

As the hour approached, Jesus cried out to God because He knew what was coming to Him. He knew His purpose and the ultimate good that would result from His obedience but also knew of the difficulty and suffering He would have to endure. Ever been there? Those aren’t easy decisions for us to make, with the weight of the world on our shoulders.

We simply aren’t strong enough in our own strength. But Jesus took that weight, and all of the weight we might ever carry, so that a life with Him means we don’t have to.

The most powerful moment in history, when the Lord Jesus arose from the dead, is celebrated by those who call upon His name not just on Easter Sunday but during 365 days a year and into eternity.

God promised this Good News long ago through his prophets in the holy Scriptures. The Good News is about his Son. In his earthly life he was born into King David’s family line, and he was shown to be the Son of God when he was raised from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit. He is Jesus Christ our Lord.

– Romans 1:2-4

By God’s grace, we are able to enter into a personal relationship with Him through His son, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, and through our decision to follow Him. The celebration begins when we, too, know that we have been transformed and have the same power of His resurrection inside of us.

That kind of relationship with God is cause for celebration every day.

So what does it all mean? How does this all translate to us in our own lives? Well, that depends on whether or not we choose to believe. The Lord Jesus made the benefits of His death and resurrection available to all. He promised, “I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.” (John 5:24 NIV)

That means lives plagued by darkness, depression, anxiety, and fear CAN Be Restored. He can take situations that seem dead and hopeless and breathe life into them. Lost souls and wandering minds searching for something real to hold onto, can find security. The grip of emotional turmoil, bad habits, and deep wounds that keep us trapped and suffocated can be released.

That's the GOOD NEWS TODAY. Sunday is God’s response to the offering of Friday. On Friday, Jesus gave himself as a sacrifice for man’s sin. On Sunday, God received the sacrifice of Jesus and raised him to life as the first fruit of all who would believe and be saved. It may seem that Saturday was silent, but God was working where we could not see. Preaching in the synagogue of Antioch, Paul declared (Acts 13:29,30), “And when they had carried out all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree and laid him in a tomb” then he says, “but God raised him from the dead.” Because of the gift of Friday, the seeming silence of Saturday, and God’s response on Sunday, there is hope. Paul concludes with this hopeful truth: “through this man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, and by him everyone who believes is freed from everything from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses.”

On this Resurrection Sunday, rejoice that God has received his offering, prolonged his days, and prospered his hand. Through Jesus, the wrath of God has been satisfied, and there is justification for sin. “…he shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days; the will of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. Out of the anguish of his soul he shall see and be satisfied; by his knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant, make many to be accounted righteous, and he shall bear their iniquities. Isaiah 53

Saved, Set free & No longer lost is the reason you can Celebrate every day of your Life.

I pray that we always spread this Good news and resonate with the truth that it is God who sent His son to die on the cross for our sins, to rise on the third day, and therefore give us the hope that CAN NOT be found anywhere else.

Yes, HE IS RISEN. He is risen indeed. Then, NOW, AND FOREVER!

Always remember that Jesus Christ, a descendant of King David, was raised from the dead. This is the Good News I preach.

– 2 Timothy 2:8

Celebrate!

If all of this isn’t a cause for celebration, we don’t know what is! Rejoice and recognize the miracle that we serve a God who is still alive and working on our behalf everyday. Rejoice and be thankful for the promise that a relationship with Him is available to all who believe. Rejoice and rest in the truth that our imperfections and shortcomings are not disqualifiers.

From this Sunday to all the days  to come, may we remain focused on the resurrected life of Jesus Christ. If not, meaningful affirmations just become catchy phrases and spirited songs just become emotional notes that fall flat. Because at some point, the conversations end, the music fades, and the only thing left is the posture of our own hearts.

Celebrate with renewed joy and gratitude for a life with Christ, and invite those you know to do the same. Love on them with the love He has given to you. Show them what it means to have a Savior who is, indeed, very much alive!

I pray you are filled with faith this Resurrection Sunday as you remember the powerful display of God’s grace. That the victory of the Cross is the reality you live from every day!
